Linley Spring Processor Conference 2018
11 April 2018-12 April 2018
The UltraSoC team participated in the Linley Spring Processor Conference which took place on 11th & 12th April in Santa Clara, CA.
As part of the event programme, UltraSoC CTO Gajinder Panesar presented on ‘Hardware monitors provide the tools for optimization at scale‘. Embedded monitoring and analytics hardware within an SoC allows collection of high-granularity data on the real-world behavior of both the chip and the wider system. This presentation outlines the use of such hardware-based infrastructures to support performance optimization in high-performance computing environments. The hardware-based approach can detect hard-to-identify issues such as contention and cache coherence, and makes it substantially easier to home in on non-fatal bugs than is possible with traditional solutions such as sampling profilers or application- and system-level instrumentation.

Even as Moore’s Law winds down, the processor industry continues to thrive. In the data center, next-generation server processors are now supplemented with a variety of accelerators to offload networking, storage, and deep-learning tasks. Deep learning is also a key technology in the development of ADAS and autonomous-driving systems. Networking equipment is evolving to SDN, NFV, 5G, and other new technologies. And the Internet of Things is quietly gaining traction in both industrial and consumer products. New processor chips and IP cores, along with memory and networking chips, are emerging to support these new applications.
This two-day event is the only one of its kind focused on the processors and IP cores used in deep learning, embedded, communications, automotive, IoT, and server designs. The Linley Group will open the conference with an overview of the market, technologies, equipment-design, and silicon trends. The second day will start with a keynote from an industry leader to be announced. The remainder of the program will include talks and panel discussions covering a broad range of topics including the following:
Data Center Day:
- Cloud server processors
- Server and storage acceleration
- Intelligent NICs
IoT Hardware Day:
- SoCs and IP cores for IoT clients
- IoT gateways and edge computing
- Wearables, including AR/VR
- ADAS and autonomous driving
In addition to attending technical presentations, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with industry leaders, The Linley Group analysts, network with your peers, attend an evening reception with sponsor exhibits and demos, and more. We’re also anticipating some new product announcements you won’t want to miss.
The conference is intended for service providers, equipment vendors, system designers, chip designers, software developers, press, and the financial community. Attendance is free to qualified registrants.
